Final IFA 2006 coverage

October 27, 2006

today we received from our PR company the final cut from the IFA 2006 clip they produced. It gives at least for me a good view of the show and bring back lots of good and inspirational conversations and feedback we received.

Other news from the C= HQ is that I had a great gathering with HansOnExperience and we talked and shared visions for like an hour and a half and I’m sure he will post something soon on his blog. He gave me some good food for thoughts and that I need to share more what I envision with you and give you more insights in my head and not only on the concrete stuff we are developing NOW … And  I should add my avatar he said … so I will create one today …

so feed me :…

Commodore in T3 magazine

October 24, 2006

Oh yes DjNits is so happy and proud and btw all at Commodore are sooo proud. If you can buy the magazine T3 in your neighbourhood get it cos its a great article.

Also check an internal mail with DJNits his enthusiasm and we are all very vey proud … <N t3

Attached a 2 page spread in the world’s leading gadget magazine T3. It’s a very positive preview piece; it contains two huge images and describes the Gravel as looking ‘incredibly promising’. The piece also sees Commodore’s re-emergence into the market as a positive thing. The graph they use to illustrate the company’s highs and lows puts Commodore 2006 at the highest it has ever been!”

Commodore Gravel In-Store

October 24, 2006

last week I walked into our boardroom with my colleague Martin and he showed me this great inStore promotion ‘device’. It was just a prototype but this was something that made my hart beat faster. At that time I didn’t had a camera with me and when I did the ‘device’ was gone again.

Today our friend DJNits sent me this picture of the in-Store device which will pop-up in stores pretty soon and you can play with the Gravels yourself before you drag them home …

Next time some of these devices are in the building I will catch any camera or phone and shoot some real pics ..

enough talk …. here it is …

Imm0 reporting from ShenZhen

October 13, 2006

Imm0 has the same issue with the Chineese censorship as DJJuice and Sperwin experienced.

SO here the first report ’live’ from ShenZhen …

<N

room with a viewI arrived in China last Friday to check up on the progress of our Gravel InPocket. I got the T2-tooling in my hand which again is a good improvement on the already very good T1 version. It is very nice to be over here and see how things work in China. Where we have about 15 people on 120 square metres, here they fit about 3 or 4 times as many people in there, all in their own cubicle. We are making big steps and are on schedule for our release. Everyday here I get more and more excited about the way a process like this evolves.. We starting with nothing and I am holding a close-to-finished sample in my hand now..

Here you can see a sample of the T2 tooling. We are not releasing it in Ip*d white, this is just the unpainted version. I will keep it as a limited edition J

As I had never been to China I am amazed by this land.. It’s fun, uncomfortable, weird, interesting.. It’s like the other side of the world!

Prices are just plain ridiculous here, you can be a king for like 20 euros a day. A 45 minute taxidrive is about 7 or 8 euros. In Holland I would be broke by the time I get out.. But for locals that is a shitload of money which is also uncomfortable, makes you feel like the white guy wasting money over other peoples back.

Now on the after-work-time, things are very different here. Explaining this is hard, they have a very different culture here, especially when it comes to women, something I could never get used to or maybe better don’t want to get used to.

Anyway, up till now this has been a very interesting experience, both professionally and private.

Cannot find group ‘commodore’.

October 12, 2006

in my chat with HansOnExperience we where discussing the different tools I can use to communicate better with our community. Next to this blog and us feeding you i wanted to interact more and one of the ideas i have is to put up a video site where we will upload our shorts. But the concept is that you will also upload and share your Commodore moments.

So instead of building this ourselves i made a Commodore and a CommodoreGravel group at YouTube. Registration went successful but when i try to add my video’s to it a receive this lovely error;

500 Internal Server Error

Sorry, something went wrong.A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation. In any case, please report this incident to customer service. Also, please include the following information in your error report:

etc ….

and when i try to upload video’s the Cannot find Group pops up. I hope this will be fixed soon and don’t think this is worth the 1.65 billion, but than again they where never bought for there technology. As soon as this is live or you see its working please let me know. The next thing is setting up a forum as that is also a request from multiple people like Graham.

More information and the link to our group at YouTube can be found in the Video section and i hope it works for you ….

China and CE 6 and …

October 5, 2006

So after the vacation and deadlines are coming closer i will probably post some quick updates on this blog so you still know that we are here. Feel free to post comments as i read them pretty quickly and keep the blog alive. Graham suggested in a comment in About to offer some kind of Forum service is this something you would register for?

Imm0 is on his way to China today to finalize the last bits and pieces. We hope he can blog directly as the last team over where not able to blog because of the censor on the server. Otherwise we will find a way to post his findings …

Now that Sperwin is back from China and he got some new stuff to do … porting the new and upcoming WinCE 6.0 to the Gravels. Very exciting stuff and the first screenshots are coming in over the email. More on that later.

For some new 2007 Gravels we are talking to some new partners and Sperwin and myself will be visiting one of RnD sites later this month. Lets see when i post pictures if you can find who the potential partner is.

Tonight DJnitts and me are doing a presentation for one of our dev partners and think i can post some photo’s tomorrow about this event. Also Philips Research will be one of the speakers, very exiting to hear what they are up to and want to share …

cheers,

Vacation and Video Site

October 2, 2006

after two week of radio silence, cos i was enjoying a nice vacation, a new and fresh post from me.

The week after IFA was as overwhelming as the show itself, very positive.

We would like to get feedback from you how to move to the next steps with Channel64. Can you please post your ideas how we should handle the next phase of Channel64.

 Some ideas we received …

1) a tech version more for devs and code sharing etc

2) a marketing version where you can find less tech but more marketing info around Commodore

3) a video version where we and you can post your videos around Commodore services and devices

now back to my email :-)

 cheers,

<N
